Bill Simpson’s net worth is $50’000’000. Bill Simpson was born on March 30, 1940, in Hermosa Beach, California. He is best known as a pioneer in the racing safety industry with his company Simpson Performance Products. Simpson got started in CCA Formula racing and drag racing and then in the USA Championship Car series. Simpson finished 13th in the 1974 Indianapolis 500. He broke both arms at 18 in a drag racing crash and then began to think about the driver’s safety. He made a prototype for a cross-form parachute to slow down a Drag car and founded Simpson Drag Chutes. Furthermore, he used the Nomex product by DuPont to create the first fire suit in the industry used in auto racing. Simpson Performance Products was involved in a 2001 controversy after Dale Earnhardt died about whether the seat belt malfunctioned. Simpson sued NASCAR to the tune of 8’500’000 but later withdrew the suit. He started Impact! It was sold to Ferrari Racing in 2002 and sold in 2010. Simpson has authored the books Safely Living Dangerously and Through the Fire. In 2003 He was inducted into the American Motorsports Hall of Fame.
