Brian Piccolo played for the Bears his entire NFL career from 1965 to 1969 and retired. He developed embryonic cell carcinoma, which is an aggressive form of germ cell testicular cancer spreading to his chest cavity. Piccolo was the subject of the TV movie Brian’s Song in 1971, which was remade in 2001, and he was portrayed by James Can and Sean Maker, respectively. Brian Piccolo died from cancer on 16 June 1970.
