Danny Ainge also was named to the all-American Parade High School team in 1977 and went on to play basketball at Brigham Young University. He earned the John Wooden Award as the college basketball player of the year. He made it to the majors at the same time But had already been selected by the MLB Blue Jays in the 1977 baseball draft.
