Ken Watanabe’s net worth: Ken Watanabe is a Japanese film. Ken Watanabe was born on October 21, 1959, in Side, Niagara, Japan, to a mother who was a teacher and a father who taught calligraphy. As a child, his family frequently relocated due to his parents’ jobs. He was a member of the concert band at Niagara Prefecture Side High School, where he played the trumpet, which he had played since he was a child. After graduation from high school, he considered a career in music, but due to his father’s ailing health, he gave up on that dream. When Watanabe graduated from high school in 1978, he moved to Tokyo to begin his acting career. He got his big break with the Tokyo-based theater troupe En. Watanabe made his television debut in 1982 and is mostly known in Japan for playing samurai. He was introduced to Western audiences in 2003 when Japanese producer Yoko Varanasi cast him as Lord Sumoto Moritsugu in “The Last Samurai”, a role that earned him an Academy Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He has also appeared in “Memoirs of a Geisha”. Watanabe has won the Japan Academy Prize for Best Actor twice.
